2012 Woes

2012 ended with a bang! and by that I mean it ended with an endless popping of fireworks everywhere. Can't say much has changed since then. I feel that all my hopes and dreams have been put to a halt because life just wants to be interesting like that. Before the closing of 2012, a customer of mine who is a Flight Attendant for AA informed me that they were finally hiring, and that they were hiring at least 500 people for In-Flight services. I for once felt that this was the best news I've heard in a long time and I was overcome with hope for the future, my future. A Flight Attending position that pays $20 per hr? Yes please! I'll be doing what I love which is traveling and earning good money, and most likely be transferred to another city as home base. It's perfect! soo... after kindly refusing to share any contact information with me, she then promised she would bring me copies of the Job Position details, and two days later, I has an envelope waiting for me in Customer Service. When I got home, I quickly opened the envelope to find sheets of information about the positions open for English-only, Spanish speakers, and other languages. I was so excited! Thankful too. At the bottom of the envelope, I see an AA business card with the F/A customer's email info. It couldn't get any better. A day later, I applied for the English and Spanish speaking positions and  crossed my fingers. Its 2013 and I've yet to hear anything back from AA, but I have faith.
Something small I'd like to talk about, and thought it was worth mentioning is the fact that Gabriel and I patched things up again and we are now talking... in all the languages we want haha! I'm very glad to have him back in my life mostly because he is the only one whom I can practice French, Portuguese, and Italian with. He is my language fix, and my culture fix. Its funny how we are so different yet we are connected through the passion of foreign languages and cultures.
So... my friend Yuki and myself wanted to find some apartments so we could live together as roommates, but apparently, apartment hunting in Miami is as impossible as trying to master the Finnish language in two days. We looked for some apartments around 8th st and 60 some avenues, they looked pretty nice from outside and they have a nice pool, we wrote down the number and called, called many many times. Not one call back, voice mail, nothing, zilch... we went once to find out that it was by appointment only on the weekends, so we called a few more times, leaving our contact info's in a recorded message. After not one single call back, I decided to go personally myself, MIND YOU! this is taking a bus from my house to Windsor Apartments, walking over there and walking back, during summer time, under 94' Miami weather. It was HOT!! ...so after arriving to Windsor, I realized that I had gotten there 45 minutes too late, since their closing hours are so DAMN EARLY! ...but there was no one around, no one to ask any questions to, not a soul in sight, so to my disappointment, I went back, arriving back home sweating like a hog. The second time I decided to go extremely early, only to see the office doors closed and no answer. At this point the Miamian in me is saying "DE PINGAAA!!!" and I become pissed. Luckily there was an old Cuban man outside his apartment smoking a cigarette, and I ask him why the office doors are closed so early? "oh she's on vacation" he says, "there is a woman that comes by, but she usually doesn't stay for too long". At this point I'm just in disbelief, so I say "Gracias" and go about my merry way back home. After looking at two other places with no success, we decided to dismiss this option for now.

Thank you 2012 for keeping me on my feet the whole damn time! Good riddance!
